“Porn addiction” therapy
in Denver, Colorado
As a licensed therapist, I don’t use the term “porn addiction” because it is loaded with shame and we actually don’t have the research to support it. If unwanted porn use is impacting your relationship or yourself & you’d like to change that, I’m here to help.
What to expect in therapy for unwanted porn use
If you feel like you have a porn addiction or have been labeled a porn addict, I am here to help. Many people (particularly men) get labeled as porn addicts when that label is damaging and inaccurate. As a licensed therapist who treats problematic sexual behavior, I focus on what the research says about porn use & it’s impact instead of leading from shame or the addiction model.
-
I help people who are experiencing distress from using pornography or who have been labeled a sex addict or a porn addict.
-
I use a variety of strategies but mainly the work of Doug Braun Harvey who specializes in treatment of out of control sexual behavior (OCSB). I do not use the addiction model to treat unwanted pornography use as it is not supported by research.
-
Yes! I combine my couples training with my out of control sexual behavior training to treat couples with this issue.
-
I don’t use the term porn or sex addiction because there is no research to support it. I stand with the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, & Therapists (AASECT) in that there is not enough evidence to support it as a mental health diagnosis and sexual addiction treatment models are not “adequately informed by human sexuality knowledge.” You can read more about this position here.

I provide in person therapy in Federal Heights & virtual therapy across Colorado, Utah, & Idaho.

For couples sessions, I charge $190 for 50 minutes. For individual sessions, I charge $170 for 50 minutes. I do not take insurance, but I am happy to provide superbills if your insurance offers reimbursement for out of network services.
